Welcome to the rectangle club! You join a host of other beautiful, stylish rectangle body types, like Keira Knightley, Cara Delevingne, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Natalie Portman.
Rectangle: Same size up and down Your shoulders, waistline, bust, and hips are around the same size. Your shoulder line is straight, your bum is flat and your midriff is small to average.
There are general guidelines and tricks for creating balance and proportions when dressing each body type. There may be some areas you want to emphasize more, and other areas you want to detract from in order to create balance and proportion. Your choice and placement of color, texture, pattern, accessories, etc determine where the eye is drawn and how proportioned your body appears. However, these are only tips and you ultimately get to decide where you want the focal point of your outfit to be.

Tips for a Rectangle shape:

The upper and lower parts of the rectangle body are well-proportioned and create a balanced silhouette. The focus of this body shape should be on defining the waist by breaking up the rectangle.

Dos:

  • Define The Waist. Pull in the waist with belts or nipped garments
  • Add dimensions to your body frame with different cuts and shapes to create curves
  • Use prints, textures, and details strategically to create interest

Avoid:

  • Clothes that end at the waist or embellish it
  • Baggy, unstructured clothes
